Teach You How To Use Oxygen Cylinders Safely

Dec 06, 2022

The safe use of oxygen cylinders has long been marked in regulations. Oxygen cylinders are steel bottles loaded with oxygen, which can effectively store gas. We must be more careful when using it, and be careful to isolate it from dangerous objects when using it. Manufacturers must also carry out safe production in accordance with national regulations. How do we use oxygen cylinders safely?
1. The oxygen cylinders used must be produced by national designated manufacturers. New bottles must have a certificate of conformity and an inspection certificate issued by the boiler and pressure vessel safety supervision department.
2. Oxygen cylinders must be inspected regularly as required. Overdue gas cylinders are strictly prohibited from filling.
3. Oxygen cylinders are prohibited from contacting with grease. The operator should not wear work clothes with excessive oil stains, and cannot touch the oxygen cylinder and its accessories with hands, oil gloves and oil tools.
4. Oxygen cylinders should be kept away from flammable and explosive materials, open flames and heat sources. The safe distance for use should be more than 10 meters, and the distance from acetylene cylinders should not be less than 3 meters, and they cannot be stored in the same room.
5. If the oxygen cylinder is used in winter, if the cylinder valve or pressure reducer freezes, it can be thawed with boiling water or steam, and baking with open fire is prohibited.
6. The oxygen in the oxygen cylinder should not be exhausted, and it is required to keep a residual pressure above 0.1MPa to prevent other gases from flowing back into the cylinder.
7. When working in the same place with the welder, in order to prevent the cylinder from being charged, an insulating pad should be added to the bottom of the cylinder. The pipeline equipment in contact with the gas cylinder should be equipped with a grounding device to prevent fire and explosion caused by static electricity. When performing welding operations on the same site, the oxygen cylinder must be insulated, and the gas cylinder must not conduct electricity.
8. Before installing the pressure reducer, the bottle valve should be opened to blow off the dirt at the mouth of the bottle. The action of opening the bottle valve should be gentle, and the person should stand behind the side.
9. During outdoor operation and transportation in summer, oxygen cylinders should be shaded to prevent exposure to the sun, and to avoid overpressure caused by gas expansion.
10. The status of the oxygen cylinder should be checked at any time, and the shockproof rubber ring should be intact. In order to protect the bottle valve, the bottle cap must be fitted during transportation and storage.
