Several Ways Of Supplying Oxygen in Hospital
Dec 18, 2022
Hospitals require a large amount of oxygen, so a variety of oxygen supply methods is also very necessary. So, what are the more commonly used methods? What are the characteristics of each method? This is what we are going to introduce to you today.
The most basic oxygen supply in hospitals is bottled oxygen supply. That is, the oxygen cylinders are transported to the wards that need oxygen and used directly by the patients. Oxygen cylinders are scattered in the ward building in this way, and multiple oxygen cylinders are often provided on each floor for ease of use, which is not easy to manage, and the risk of fire is large, and can only be used in multi-storey ward buildings. In the 1970s and 1980s, hospitals in our country basically adopted this gas supply method, but it is currently only used in some small hospitals at the county and township levels.
Medical oxygen generator gas supply. According to its principle, the oxygen generator can be divided into electrochemical oxygen production method, low temperature air separation method and medical molecular sieve pressure swing adsorption method. Due to the complex process of low-temperature air separation and electrochemical oxygen production, the equipment occupies a large area. At present, the medical molecular sieve adsorption method is mostly used for oxygen production. The working principle is to use 5A zeolite molecular sieve as the adsorbent. The crystal of 5A zeolite molecular sieve is a cage structure with well-developed crystal caves.
Liquid oxygen supply. That is, liquid oxygen storage tanks or oxygen cylinder groups are used to centrally use the pipe network to supply gas, and liquid oxygen storage tanks are more used. Compared with bottled oxygen supply, this method has stable and concentrated gas sources, is convenient for patients to use, and has higher fire safety, etc. With many advantages, it is currently adopted by many hospitals, and some ward buildings that originally used bottled oxygen have also undergone technical transformation to supply air in this way.
