Safety Precautions and Instructions for Use of Industrial Gas Cylinders

General considerations

1. Cylinders shall be stored in a well ventilated place. It is strictly prohibited to store them near precision equipment, cables, refueling systems, combustibles, etc. or in a confined space, and they shall be far away from heat sources. In summer, they shall be protected from sunlight. Two shockproof rings and cylinder caps must be installed on the cylinder.

2. Cylinders shall be stored upright and placed in cylinder racks, cages or other specified areas, and shall be fixed with ropes, chains and other special fixing facilities or other feasible measures.

3. Do not contact the cylinder with live objects, and do not contaminate the cylinder valve with grease.

4. It is strictly forbidden to mix gas cylinders with combustibles and explosives.

5. The cylinder cap shall be tightened before handling. Cylinders shall be loaded and unloaded with care. Throwing, rolling and collision are strictly prohibited. Trolleys, trolleys, etc. shall be used to move gas cylinders.

6. It is prohibited to use the cylinder cover as a lifting point or handle.

7. During the use of gas cylinders, a certain amount of residual gas must be retained.

8. Check the state of the cylinder before use; Gas cylinder accessories, such as safety helmet, shockproof ring, pressure gauge, pressure reducing valve, etc., shall be complete and qualified.

9. It is not allowed to use cylinders that are overdue or have no manufacturing inspection stamp.

10. The rubber hose connected to the gas cylinder must be firmly bound with hoops, and the damaged and seriously aged rubber hose shall not be used.

11. It is not allowed to use dangerous methods such as rope pulling to transport gas cylinders to high places, nor to use the method of freely rolling down stairs or ramps to transport gas cylinders.

12. The gas cylinder must be connected to the pressure regulator. It is prohibited to directly connect the gas cylinder valve.

13. The valve shall be opened step by step; When closing the valve, stop where you can, do not use excessive force, and stop the gas flowing out.

14. In case of gas cylinder leakage, the gas cylinder shall be moved to a safe position, and relevant personnel in the workplace shall be reminded to stay away, and the supplier shall be informed at the same time.

Special precautions

1. The storage environment temperature of various gas cylinders shall meet the following requirements: acetylene cylinders shall not be higher than 40 ℃, argon cylinders shall not be higher than 50 ℃, and oxygen cylinders shall not be higher than 60 ℃.

2. The gas in the cylinder shall not be exhausted. The residual pressure of oxygen cylinder shall not be lower than 0.2MPa. The residual pressure of argon cylinder shall not be lower than 0.5MPa. The residual pressure of acetylene cylinder shall not be lower than the following requirements: 0.1MPa at ambient temperature of 0 ℃ - 15 ℃, 0.2MPa at ambient temperature of 15 ℃ - 25 ℃, and 0.3MPa at ambient temperature of 25 ℃ - 40 ℃.

3. Before gas welding (cutting), the gas cylinder system shall be checked for tightness, and shall not be used in case of leakage; It is strictly forbidden to mix oxygen and acetylene cylinders. A safe distance of at least 5 meters shall be kept between oxygen cylinders and acetylene cylinders, and the safe distance between cylinders and fire points shall not be less than 10 meters.

4. Flammable gas cylinders such as dissolved acetylene cylinders shall also be equipped with backfire preventers that are suitable for the type of gas. Different types of backfire preventers shall not be mixed.

5. Regulators and piping of various gases shall not be used in disorder, especially oxygen cylinders, otherwise explosion may occur.

6. It is forbidden to place acetylene cylinders on electrical insulators for use.

7. When working with electric welders, the bottom of the oxygen cylinder is padded with insulating materials to prevent the cylinder from being electrified. The metal equipment such as pipes in contact with gas cylinders shall have good grounding devices to prevent burning or explosion accidents caused by static electricity.
