Difference Between Medical Oxygen And Industrial Oxygen
Dec 16, 2022
Everyone knows that oxygen is indispensable for life, but oxygen is also divided into medical oxygen and industrial oxygen, so I will introduce the difference between the two next.
The biggest difference between medical oxygen and industrial oxygen lies in the control of moisture in oxygen. We often have this kind of experience in our life, the surface is smooth, and the iron without rust will not rust if it is placed in the open air for a long time, but it will rust after a heavy rain. This is because oxygen oxidizes large amounts of iron molecules only in the presence of water. And after the iron is oxidized, not only rust but also hydrogen and other gases harmful to the human body will be discharged. After iron is oxidized, it forms rust. The rust is very loose, and it is easy to form small particles and mix in oxygen. Inhaled by patients, causing infection and other respiratory damage. Therefore, it is extremely important to minimize the moisture content in oxygen in the production of medical oxygen.
Industrial oxygen is a gas used in industrial production and product processing, and the quality requirements are relatively low. Generally, a purity of more than 99% is required to be qualified. The filling procedure is not as strict as that of medical oxygen. Moisture and other impurities are often mixed in and remain in the oxygen cylinder of the steel cylinder. The water mixed in and remaining in the cylinder will cause the inner wall of the oxygen cylinder to rust, thus causing the gas in the cylinder to have a peculiar smell. At the same time, industrial oxygen also contains carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, acetylene and other impurities that are extremely harmful to the human body. Once the patient inhales too much, it will cause coughing and scabbing, which will cause or aggravate the symptoms of the respiratory system.
