Introduction to common preparation methods of oxygen
Dec 15, 2022
The industrial production method of oxygen is mainly to use the basic properties of air. By first liquefying the air and then heating it up, the separation of various gases is completed according to the different boiling points of various gases, and other gases are removed. The source of raw materials is wide and it is easy to realize. . So how exactly is this process done? What are the main steps? The following is a detailed introduction for you:
Oxygen is mainly produced by air separation. Because the main components in the air are oxygen and nitrogen. When oxygen is produced, the boiling points of oxygen and nitrogen are different, and the production of oxygen from air is called air separation.
First, the air is precooled and purified (removing a small amount of moisture in the air, carbon dioxide, acetylene, hydrocarbons and other gases and dust and other impurities), and then compressed and cooled to make it into liquid air.
Then, using the difference in the boiling points of oxygen and nitrogen, the liquid air is sub-evaporated and condensed in the rectification tower, and the oxygen and nitrogen are separated to obtain pure oxygen (can reach 99.6% purity) and pure nitrogen (can reach 99% .9% purity). If some additional devices are added, rare inert gases such as argon, neon, helium, krypton, and xenon, which are very small in the air, can also be extracted.
Finally, the compressed oxygen is stored in high-pressure steel cylinders, or directly transported to factories and workshops through pipelines.
Oxygen uses this method of preparation because the technology is safe and operable, and the yield is high.
